We will go over jewelry making tools and their use & discuss a variety of findings and stringing materials. We will then make a bracelet with beads of your choice.
Using the proper tools along with instruction in proper technique is a winning combination for fabulous & durable jewelry creations
Note: If you have already purchased tools, please bring them for me to check out. Some tools that are sold as jewelry making tools are really not so good to use and I will explain why.

Want to take your beading expertise to the next level? If so, join us for this fun introduction to working with wire. We will discuss the many tools and wire used in wire working. First off, I will show you how to make wrapped loops so you can make all kinds of sturdy earrings and attachments. We will then make a variety of items; jump rings, fancy head pins, and links. Many new possibilities can open up for your jewelry creations once you learn these new skills.

Learn the very different and fun technique of Japanese Braiding. The end result is very similar to the look of the tubular peyote stitch but WAY easier! Etching On Copper

Learn a really cool technique of etching on copper to make a variety of fun items. We will focus on the technique and make several pieces that can be turned into pendants and/or earrings. All materials are provided in class. Please wear old clothes as we will be working with a chemical that may stain clothing.
We will be using a variety of rubber stamps, and permanent marker for those of you with drawing skills! This technique is not limited to jewelry making and can be incorporated in many crafting applications.
No previous metalwork required for this class.
Lab Slide Pendants

Fringe Bracelet

Choose from 4 color combinations to make a lovely fringe bracelet filled with flowers, leaves and many varieties of seed beads and Czech glass. This is mostly a needle & thread project, but we also use other materials. The project may not be completed in class, depending on how full you want your bracelet, but clear printed instructions are given to take home just in case. Bring chain nose pliers, wire cutters, crimping tool and magnifying glasses if you need them. This is truly a feminine bracelet!

2. If you have your own tools, please bring them with you to class. I have a limited amount of extra tools.
3. We will use safety glasses and disposable gloves when appropriate.
4. If you need magnifiers to see well, PLEASE bring them along. It is extremely important to see well to do any of these projects.

Learn to make this elegant crystal and silver bracelet using 3 strands of beading wire. Please bring wire cutters, crimping pliers and bead stoppers if you have them.

Make this sturdy chain maille bracelet with your choice of connector links. Several choices will be available to choose from. After we finish assembling the bracelet, you can decide if you would like to patina it. I will go through the steps of patinazation with liver of sulfur and fine steel wool.
Bring two flat pliers, either one chain nose and one flat nose or two of the same kind. Latex gloves and safety glasses will be provided along with the sterling jump rings, connectors and clasp. With this class you will learn new skills that will definitely add to your jewelry designing possibilities!

Disc Punching,
Stamping & Dapping

We will work with copper and brass sheet and punch circular discs with a disc cutter and cut rectangular/square shapes with metal shears. Next we will sand the edges smooth and then stamp them with decorative and letter stamps. You will learn to drill and punch holes in the metal and use a dapping/doming block to shape them and then add patina, if desired.
This class will open up a whole new creative world to you!

Make Your Own Jump Rings & Solder Hammered Link Earrings!

This is a class you have been waiting for! Making your own jump rings is a great way to have various sizes on hand whenever you need them. We will make sterling silver jump rings from 18 gauge wire 2 different ways: 1) the traditional method using a jeweler’s saw & blade, and 2) using a professional jump ring maker. Then you will learn the basics of soldering with flux and micro-torch and learn about pickle and tumbling. After soldering, we will then use a ball-peen hammer on some larger jump rings to make some decorative circular links and a great pair of earrings to take home!

Rivets!

For those looking for a new technique to add to their repertoire, rivets can add a low tech and funky charm to your jewelry designs.
AND... for those reluctant to use a torch to join metal shapes together, riveting is a great alternative.

Make a beautiful layered fused glass pendant using a paper thin sheet of Art Clay Silver and brass or copper inclusions. Free-Form Wire Pendants

In this fun class, we will make 4 pendants in free-form style using silver colored craft wire. You can make your pendants in the designs shown or create your own. Here is your opportunity to give glass decals a try. In the decal sampler class, we will be making one pendant each using the following decals: 22k gold, black enamel and sepia. You will choose two pre-fired dichro pendants - one in a dark color for the 22k gold decal and one in a light color for the black enamel decal. Since the pendants are pre-fired you will know the exact color of the dichro as it will not change in the second firing. For the sepia pendant, we will use either two or three layers of glass depending on your preference. The glass will be precut and in an assortment of cathedral, spirit or opaque glass. Art Clay Silver Beginner Level, Part 3

Make these 3 great projects in this beginner level art clay silver clay. We will make a mini "book" pendant, a rolled bead and and a textured pendant with wire embellishment. It is not necessary to have taken Part 1 or Part 2 to take this class. All materials are included in class fee.
The word Millefiori means "a thousand flowers". In the Millefiori Mold Magic class, we will be using 104 efferete glass This is the same glass that the Murano family uses to make their beautiful jewelry in Venice, Italy. We will make three pendants using clear and opaque millefioris and 104 sheet glass. The molds will shape our glass and you will discover the technique that allows us to use molds and controlled kiln heat. We will also review the millefiori masher technique and create a pendant with mashed milles and 104 stringers. No experience necessary - come out and enjoy the beauty of old world millefiori without the torch.

Here's a new concept in learning that we have implemented at the shop. We are currently working with 3 books that are loaded with beautiful projects that we are sure you will want to make. Each student participating will need her own books. We have them at the shop for purchase unless you already have your own copies. We will pick one project each month to complete. You will learn a variety of techniques and increase your jewelry making skills. Learning in this manner will ensure clear, concise written instructions along with teacher guidance while buliding a great reference library! We think you will really enjoy it!
